NATURE AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION PROJECT
Learn how to preserve nature and its wildlife
Explore the vast forested areas of Scandinavia and learn about the different species of animals that live there. Learn how to read their tracks, and how to preserve the nature that surrounds them. During your time on this project you will be working in the field and learn different types of monitoring techniques for various species of wildlife. The bulk of the tasks will mostly be orientated around wildlife but during the project we will also be working with practical conservation tasks in and around protected areas such as nature reserves and national parks. This will be done in collaboration with different government entities.
You will be working with various field equipment such as camera-traps, GPS-devices, research equipment and more. In the acitivities you will be led by our field personnel but as time progresses and participants grow more comfortable in their roles there will also be opportunities to perform tasks in smaller groups with larger responsibility. This project is designed to make participants grow and master practical skills.
Participants should be prepared to spend a lot of time in the field in any and all weather conditions. Cooking will be done in the kitchen at homebase or over gas cookers when we stay in the wild. The accommodation will consist of tents but also shared rooms at the base. Weekends and evenings will usually be free time that you can spend in town, explore the forest on your own or relax at homebase.
