AQUATIC ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION PROJECT

Making a difference at the source

NOTE: This is project of national interest and therefore it is funded by external organisations. This is the reason for the lower participation fee.

For centuries the streams and rivers of Scandinavia played an important part for the different industries that brought on prosperity and a higher standard of living. But all these encroachments has come at a price and we are now working actively to pay it all back and restore that which was destroyed.

Many lakes, rivers and streams are now severaly affected by eutrophication worldwide. Logging, industrial farming and other industries are severely damaging the quality of the water and threatening the future existence of many species of aquatic flora and fauna.

For one month, you will be working hands on with practical tasks that will help these aquatic ecosystems back to their former state. These tasks plays are a very imortant even for the health of our seas. You will be helping matters at the source so to speak.

The work will be physically demanding at times and the weather will challenge you. This is a project for those who wish to walk taller and hold their heads a little higher after completion.

All the work will be done in cooperation with the county administration of Örebro county and volunteers will be led by professional conservationists and county officials.
